Duties of Bridge Officers

2009/10



Our Bridge Officers are a commited group of boaters who ensure that Squadron business is well taken care of. They are devoted to keeping the Juan de Fuca Squadron an active and vibrant boating community.

OfficeDuties
Commander Responsible for the overall administration of the business of the Squadron
Executive Officer Assists the Commander in the day-to-day operations of the Squadron.
The Executive Officer (XO) represents the Commander at functions when the Commander cannot be present.
This role prepares the XO to step into the Commander position.
Training Officer Responsible for carrying out the training program that has been determined by the Bridge.
Assistant Training Officer Assists the Training Officer in their duties.
Recording Secretary Maintains the non-financial records of the Squadron, and provides assistance and advice to the Commander and Bridge.

Treasurer Maintains the financial records of the Squadron and provides advice to the Commander and Bridge with respect to the financial aspects of the Squadron
Public Relations Officer (PRO) Promotes activities of the Squadron.
Membership Officer Provides assistance and advice to the Commander and Bridge with respect to the membership program, promotes membership to Boating Course classes, and encourages continued membership to the Squadron members
Editor Responsible for publishing the Squadron newsletter.
MAREP Officer (Hydrographic & Weather) Provides assistance and advice to the Commander and Bridge with respect to the MAREP program that is undertaken
Cruise Master Responsible for organizing and overseeing Squadron cruises.
This officer will make sure there is a Squadron member who coordinates the activities of each cruise, including reserving dock space and making any necessary arrangements.
The Cruise Master does not necessarily participate in every cruise.
Entertainment Officer Responsible for organizing the Squadron social events, including reserving facility space, coordinating refreshments, food and entertainment.
Historian Responsible for keeping historical records of the Squadron.
Auditor Audits the financial records of the Squadron.
Port Captain Responsible for providing local information on the ports and water in their area.
Officers at Large Responsible for carrying out other duties which may not fall under the domain of any particular Bridge Officer
